Our Favourite Things About Bali
Bali is a very special place, on many people’s bucket list for good reason. It’s that beautiful combination of fascinating culture, outstanding art & architecture, friendly people, incredible food & style. All on the backdrop of glorious tropical nature & warm climate.
The endless options for sightseeing & tourism in Bali can mean making a choice may feel overwhelming! We’ve put togther this guide to help you decide what to do during your week on Retreat with us, & to give you ideas if you decide to stay on the island a little longer (we highly recommend)!
What to see in Bali

Soak up the sunshine one of Bali’s amazing beaches. For blonde/white sand & rocky cliffs, we recommend Thomas Beach, Padang Padang beach, Bingin beach. If you have time before or after Retreat, visit Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands.
A full day Bali spa experience. We recommend Bodyworks, just a 5 min drive from our Retreat home base, it is one of the most beautiful buildings in Bali, offering a variety of amazing luxe treatments. Book ahead.

Go chasing waterfalls. There are more amazing waterfalls in Bali than you could count, some more remote than others. With the warm tropical climate of Bali, there’s nothing more refreshing than cooling off in a cool waterfall! We like Tegenungan, Kanto Lampo, Banyumala & Munduk waterfalls. Consider combining a visit to Ubud with a waterfall trip. Read more here.
Visit a temple or learn about Balinese culture. Since you’re in Bali, why not visit one of the exquisite Balinese temples & learn about Balinese culture? You might even want to see a traditional dance. We suggest Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu, where if you’re lucky you can take a water cleansing ceremony or Luhur Uluwatu where you can look out over the ocean. Read more here.

Try something artistic. Bali is known for it’s many talented artists, so it’s the perfect place to try something new & artistic. Think Batik painting, pottery, a dance class, Balinese cooking class. Whatever you’ve been thinking of trying, Bali has it.
Take a surf lesson. Bali is a surfers paradise. No matter your level of ability, you can find a surf guide & a wave that will suit you. Canggu is one of the easiest places to get a surf lesson, as there are many schools & board hire shops right on the beach. The Bukit peninsula also has lots of surf schools.
