Below are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions. I hope they will help you with your Retreat planning & get you all set for an amazing week in paradise!
I’m looking to buy flights. What do I need to know?
You will fly in to Denpasar Airport (airport code DPS). Day 1 and 7 of your retreat are set aside for arrivals and departures. All our pole workshops are scheduled for Day 2-6 of each Retreat. Workshops finish by 3pm on Day 6. On Day 1 we have a welcome dinner at 6pm, on Day 6 we have a farewell dinner at 7pm, and on Day 7 we have breakfast together at about 9am. These events aren’t compulsory but are a great way to start & finish your retreat. Accommodation is provided for Day 1-6 inclusive (not Day 7 as that is departure day).
Please send us your flight number & arrival time once you’ve booked your flights.
How will I get from the Airport to the Villa?
The Denpasar International Airport is approximately 20 minutes drive from The Island Houses, our private Villa complex in Seminyak.
If your flight arrives on Day 1 of the Retreat, we will pick you up from the airport. We will have our driver there to meet you, holding a sign with your name on it! If you depart on Day 7 of the Retreat we will take you to the Airport. Outside these times, you will need to arrange transport.
If you are coming from/going to another location to the Retreat (e.g. another place in Bali) let us know – we would be happy to pick you up/drop you off within the Seminyak area.
Do I need travel insurance?
For your benefit, travel insurance is compulsory for this Retreat. You can purchase inexpensive insurance through a variety of providers, including online.
Please send us a copy of your insurance certificate prior to the Retreat.
Do I need a visa?
Citizens from most countries will be granted a tourist visa on arrival to Bali. Please check the Indonesian Embassy/Consulate in your country to see if you are eligible to obtain the visa on arrival.
Where is the villa?
The Island Houses are in Seminyak. The address is Jalan Sari Dewi 29, Seminyak
What do I need to bring?
Everything for a week of pole, relaxation and adventure! All your pole gear (pole wear, heels, knee pads, leg warmers etc). Bali is warm so we recommend bringing grip aids. We also recommend a yoga mat for stretching sessions at the villa. We also recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen and bug spray.
What is the weather like?
Bali is warm all year round!
What’s in the nearby area?
Seminyak is one of Bali’s most vibrant areas, full of delicious restaurants, cute bars and cafes, and beautiful boutiques. Just a short walk from the villa is the beach, and Bali’s best beach bars. If you plan to do some personal travel before or after the retreat, Seminyak is within easy access to most tourist attractions.
Where will the pole workshops be held? How many pole workshops will we have per day?
All our workshops will be held at our beautiful, air-conditioned studio with 9 poles (45 and 48mm) and polished wooden floors. The studio is a 15-minute drive from the Villa, and we will get you there and back every day in air-conditioned comfort.
Will the pole workshops be split into levels?
Yes. Each Retreat will be split into two workshop groups, based on level. This will ensure you get all the attention you need, can work on skills suited to where you are at, and have a pole to yourself!
The exception to this is our Exotic Retreats, which will be grouped according to your comfort in the Exotic dance style.
Will I be able to communicate in English?
Yes. Most people involved in tourism in Bali speak English well and are more than happy to chat with you in English.
I’m thinking of doing some extra travel in Bali. Where should I go?
Bali is a small island, full of amazing things to see! We recommend visiting Ubud and the nearby islands (including Gili Islands, Nusa Lembongan), while there are plenty of sights to see within a couple of hours drive of Seminyak. Wednesday of each Retreat will be a pole-optional day – attend more pole workshops or go on your own adventure!
Do I need immunisations?
Please consult your doctor regarding immunisations you may need.
What is the local currency and how much do things cost? What currency should I bring?
The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) (10,100 to AUD$1, 13,100 to USD$1, 18,900 to £1, 14,700 to €1. Bali is relatively inexpensive compared to most western countries.
We will have a limited amount of IDR that we can change for you if you’re bringing USD, EURO or AUD.
There are ATMS that dispense IDR, but you can also bring USD, EURO or AUD and exchange at the money changers. We can help you do this.
I’m vegetarian/vegan/gluten free. Will that be catered for in the meals?
Absolutely. We can accommodate pretty much all dietary requirements, you just need to let us know in advance in the survey we will send you, so we can make sure we have lots of awesome options for you!
Will I be able to book privates with my favourite instructors?
Where the schedule permits, yes, we would love for you to have the chance to work one on one with your favourite instructors! Our instructors are passionate and love to teach! We will have a limited number of private class spaces available, so please let us know who you would like to book a class with as soon as you decide.
I would love to do a photoshoot, how do I book this?
We will have a professional photographer on each Retreat! If you would like to showcase your hard work in a photo shoot, we have a limited number of photo shoot packages available on each Retreat. Let us know if you’d like more information on the packages available.
How do I connect with other dancers on my Retreat?
About 3 months before your Retreat, we will create a Facebook group where you can meet the other girls on Retreat. We will also use the Facebook group as a way to communicate before and during the Retreat.
